Adult Education

TCPL offers resources and services for adult learners. Do you need to brush up on your reading/writing skills? Do you want to improve your English speaking skills? Are you looking for education and career resources? Explore our services below.

Learn to read & write

Our Literacy Program provides free one-on-one tutoring in basic reading and writing to adults on the South Shore. Our students include both English language learners, and English first speakers looking to improve their reading and writing skills.

Learner-centered tutoring focuses on the goals, skills and everyday materials that are important to each student. Adults may work on job applications, pre-GED material, or simply improving basic skills for every day life.

English Talk Time

Free ESOL conversation groups for high-beginner to advanced level English speakers who want to practice their English. Our classes are led by trained volunteers, and are an informal and friendly group setting where English learners can practice their speaking skills.

We have three 10-week sessions each year:

  • Fall session (beginning in September)
  • Winter session (beginning in January)
  • Spring session (beginning in April)
