Happy Summerween!

It’s officially Summerween! What’s Summerween? It’s a fun summer holiday combining both summer and Halloween! The holiday originated on the Disney Channel animated series Gravity Falls in 2012.

Summerween is a time to dig out some skeletons, make a Pumpkin-spiced beverage, cozy up under a blanket, and enjoy a spooky book and/or movie! TCPL is here to help you plan the perfect spooky summer with a list of recommendations you can find at the library, plus fun spooky events to get you in the Halloween spirit.

Ways to Celebrate Summerween

  • Carve a jack-o-lantern watermelon
  • Have an outdoor spooky movie or tv show night
  • Read spooky books
  • Do an escape room

Author Spotlight: Rachel Harrison

For readers who want to read something spooky, but not too scary! Rachel Harrison’s books feature strong female characters and themes of family trauma, aging, love, and more, making the author a perfect option to add to your Summerween TBR.

A woman must confront the demons of her past when she attempts to fix up her childhood home.

A cynical twentysomething must confront her cultish family.
