Join us on Thursday mornings at 10 AM between April – September, for our outdoor English Talk Time event! English Talk Time is the library’s ESOL conversation-group program for adults. The Walk & Talk series allow for a nice walk around Quincy Center while practicing English communication skills and meeting new people! All are welcome – no registration is required! Children and strollers are welcome but must be supervised by a parent or caretaker.
The group meets on the Olmsted Lawn outside the Washington Street entrance at 10 AM. We usually have a little conversation outside and embark for the walk around 10:15 AM!
Occasionally, we will feature special Walk & Talk field trips with private tours at local museums and organizations for FREE (registration may be required for special field trips)! Check our Events Calendar for special field trips!
If it is raining or unusually cold, the walk will be cancelled. We will mark the event as cancelled by the Wednesday evening prior to the walk. As ‘regulars’ start to attend the walks, we will remind them to check our Events Calendar if the weather looks iffy!
English Talk Time Volunteering
Would you like to:
- Work with people from other cultures and countries?
- Help limited English speakers connect with their new community?
- Learn techniques and activities to help adults speak English more fluently?
If your answers are YES, consider becoming a volunteer Talk Time facilitator. Talk Time is not an English class; it is an opportunity for adults learning English to practice what they already know. Volunteers work and train with an experienced ESOL specialist and then facilitate their own Talk Time group at a time and place convenient for them.
If you are interested in volunteering, please call us at (617) 376-1300 x5 or email us at [email protected]
