If you or someone you know struggles with reading and writing, the Literacy Program at the Thomas Crane Public Library can help! Our literacy program pairs adult students with a free tutor who will meet you at a Library near you, or online, for 2 hours each week, giving you the chance to discover, learn, read more, and achieve your goals. Learn at your own pace!
For more information about our Literacy program or to schedule an appointment, call 617-376-1314 or text 857-310-7612! All calls and texts are confidential.
This meeting will give us the information we need to match you with a tutor. A match is based on:
- Making arrangements so you and your tutor can meet online or in-person
- Days and times convenient for you and your tutor
- Your needs and interests
The Literacy Program at the Thomas Crane Public Library has been providing free one-on-one tutoring in basic reading and writing to adults on the South Shore since 1985. Literacy Volunteers of Massachusetts-Quincy is one of 12 LVM programs in Massachusetts and an accredited affiliate of the national network of ProLiteracy America. We recently celebrated the Literacy program’s 40th anniversary, Literacy40 during Quincy400, in September 2025 alongside International Literacy Day!
